New Packaging Regulation (PPWR)

Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on packaging and packaging waste was published on January 22, 2025, entered into force on February 11, 2025, and will be fully applicable from August 12, 2026. It replaces Directive 94/62/EC and harmonizes rules at the European level, introducing recycled content targets, reuse obligations, and restrictions on certain plastic products. Producers and importers must now adapt their packaging design and supply chains accordingly.
